MHLCT Warm Spaces Fund 2026-27

Up to 25 grants of £1,000 will be awarded to churches in the top 10% of deprived areas in England, which are running Warm Spaces during the winter of 2026/27 and need a little bit of help to do so.

Eligibility criteria

All the following criteria must be met:

1. Located or working in one of the top 10% of deprived areas in England according to Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government’s English Indices Of Deprivation 2025 . You can check this, using the relevant postcode, by clicking here.

2. Running a ‘Warm Space’ within a church-run building during the winter 2026-2027 season

3. Registered as a Warm Space with the Warm Welcome Campaign

Please note that registration with the Warm Welcome Campaign is different to registration as a Warm Space with your local council or any other body. We will check that your church is on this list.

4. Has not received a £1,000 Warm Spaces grant from the Maurice & Hilda Laing Charitable Trust in the last two years.

Applications

Please note:

• You need to complete both the short application form and the LFT coversheet. Both can be found below to download. Your completed application form and coversheet should be sent with a covering email to info@laingfamilytrusts.org.uk no later than 3.00pm on Friday 27th November 2026.
• All applications will be reviewed and you can expect a response from us by the end of December 2026.
• If all 25 grants are not awarded in the first application cycle, a second application cycle wil be opened in early 2027.
• If you have received a Warm Spaces grant in the last two years, you will not be eligible for a grant this year unless a second window for applications is opened.
• Applicants currently in receipt of other grants from the Laing Family Trusts can apply, as long as they meet the stated criteria.
• All grantees will be asked to complete a short report on the impact of the Warm Spaces funding. Further details will be provided with your award.
